CD Hylton Senior High School
C. D. Hylton Senior High School, a comprehensive high school of almost 2200 students, is located in Woodbridge, Virginia approximately 25 miles south of Washington, D.C. The school, designated as Prince William County Schools’ Center for International Studies & Languages (CISL), opened in September of 1991.

We have a great and dedicated staff. They work very hard to assist students and provide instruction that is tailored to the various learning styles and needs of all students. Our goal is to equip students with the skills needed to experience success as well as to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

C. D. Hylton Senior High School cannot be successful without the support and assistance of our parents. We continue to emphasize the importance of teamwork. Our parents, business partners, staff, and community are all vital and crucial components of our team and school family.

.D. Hylton High School was named for Cecil D. Hylton who donated the land for the school. Mr. Hylton was the largest private landowner in Prince William County and creator of Dale City.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

The Center for International Studies and Languages (CISL) at Hylton offers students a comprehensive program of study with a focus on global awareness. The program advances the understanding of global issues respective to cultures and languages, information and communication, and political, economic and environmental systems. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS

C.D. Hylton High School teachers and staff strongly encourage all students to participate in school-related activities which include, but are not limited to, a full complement of freshman, junior varsity, and varsity athletic programs. Academic organizations such as the National Honor Society and Model United Nations incorporate students from all disciplines.

Other organizations focus on positive citizenship, occupational preparation, leadership, and community service. Among these are the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Ecology Club, International Heritage Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Key Club, Junior Civitans, and the T.V. Production Club. Students are also responsible for the publication of our award-winning newspaper and yearbook, The Watchdog, and The Legend.

Students take active roles in special programs such as the Governor's School, Boys and Girls State, the Science Fair, the Madrigal Feast, and several annual school plays. In addition, the choir, band, and orchestra have established a reputation of excellence.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The faculty and staff strongly believe that a vital component of the educational program is the involvement of parents and the community. The PTSO sponsors the All Night After Graduation Party in conjunction with the Virginia state drug prevention program, organizes fund raisers to benefit school programs, and participates in many other activities throughout the school year.

The Principal's Advisory Council (PAC) also represents parents, teachers, and students. This council assesses the needs of C.D. Hylton High School and assists in developing the School Plan consistent with the Prince William County School's philosophy and objectives. The Council is composed of ten parents, ten teachers, and ten students. Meetings are open to any interested individuals throughout the year.
