Our School Fusion Web site has new tools to enhance student, parent and teacher communication--such as class calendars, homework assignments, email and more. Some of the work on this site is still in progress but we are working hard to complete this site as soon as possible.

Great things are happening at Fred M. Lynn Middle School! Welcome to our new website. Fred M. Lynn Middle School is nestled beautifully at the intersection of the Route 1 corridor and Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge, Virginia. We take pride in all of our accomplishments. Our school enjoys “full accreditation” and AYP status this school year. We are striving for continuous improvement, but we will not be satisfied until all of our students pass all of their SOL tests.

We are committed to working in a spirit of cooperation to ensure that each child feels safe, secure, and successful. Fred M. Lynn Middle School is the home of a dedicated and energetic faculty and staff (from all over the world), committed and involved parents, and excited and enthusiastic students. The administration, faculty and staff work diligently in partnership with parents and the community to maintain high standards for academic proficiency and social presence for our students. We expect the best and except nothing less! These student-centered efforts combine to make us one of Prince William County’s most successful middle schools.

Fortunately, we benefit from the strong support of our parents and community. The Fred M. Lynn area is privileged with many businesses that are eager and willing to provide partnerships. These partnerships with parents, community, Instructional Facilitators and students make Fred M. Lynn Middle School an exceptional place to learn, to grow, and to work.

Our goals include:

* Exhibit continuous academic improvement.
* Demonstrate social presence with appropriate behavior and respect for self and others.
* Increase daily attendance.

This year we have implemented several programs to promote continuous academic and social improvement. Some of the programs include:

* Accelerated Reader
* Universal Breakfast
* Algebra Readiness
* EXPEDIA (remediation, intervention, enrichment )
* Grade Level Deans
* Home and School Connections Program
* Discipline with Dignity

Recently, Fred M. Lynn Middle School was approved by the Superintendent's Cabinet to implement training for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. More information regarding the exciting opportunity for our community is forth coming. Additionally, we are working with our parents to implement a school-wide uniform program for the 2009-2010 school year.

Beyond the instructional program, we want to empower students to be able to think critically, to efficiently solve problems, and to be self-aware. We want to produce learners who possess human relations skills and who respect individual differences. We believe that this can be best accomplished in an atmosphere of open communication between the school and the home.

Parents and educators share the common goal of providing the best educational opportunities possible for each student at Fred M. Lynn Middle School. When students and parents have a clear understanding of the rules and procedures followed at the school, we will achieve our goals.

We want the best for our students, but we are not enough. You, the parents, play the key role in the education of your child. Your words of encouragement, a hug when the day has been rough, your interest in their school work, and your presence at school are vital.

Come to school, meet us, talk with us, join the PTA, and volunteer your time and energy. Your involvement will show your child that you value their education. Remember, the task of educating young people is difficult, and it requires the wholehearted cooperation and commitment of every stakeholder: students, parents, Instructional Facilitators, and all individuals involved. Our doors belong to you; they are always open for your visit!

It is my pleasure to serve the Fred M. Lynn Middle School community as your principal and Virginia School Turnaround Specialist. As a member of this community I am continually impressed by the quality of our students and the involvement of our parents.
